The MyIowaHome.com official history:

MyIowaHome.com started as an idea I had in 2004 for a consumer oriented real estate site that didn’t require the public to be obligated to speak to an agent to get real estate listings or information about real estate. Additionally, I wanted sellers to have a site where their home could be featured prominently on the front page and not lost in marching columns of stacked listings found by links. After evaluating site after site and finding them overly agent focused and incredibly expensive I had almost given up hope, but one day as if by magic in my email inbox was an invitation from John Bowdering of AgentDeluxe.com. to a free trial of their AgentDeluxe suite. Warily I tried it and was relieved to find it did what I thought people needed it to do. I quickly chose the client friendly platform by AgentDeluxe, pointed my domain at it and have been using it ever since.On January 23rd 2005 the site went active and I started advertising it using SEO, bus benches, business cards and any other way I could. At first it was slow, in those days I counted my hits by the hundreds per month. More recent counts are about 1,800 a day. On January 25th 2009 MyIowaHome.com passed the million hit mark.

To this day consumers don’t need to log in to search any part of the site. I also include a link to the local flat fee broker and post the names of every other MLS participating broker on my site. I have a Daily Free Foreclosures list available by subscription as well and to date have sent over 1,000 editions, saving consumers untold thousands. The name of the site was chosen because it’s the first person possessive reflecting my client based approach to real estate. When you type MyIowaHome.com you take ownership, and that's the way it should be.
